Spain, officially the ‘Kingdom of Spain’, is located in southwestern Europe and borders France and Portugal. Its coastline spans over 3000 miles and territories include the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean and the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea.
Today, Spain is sixth most populated country in Europe and the fourth largest country in Europe by land. They are one of the worlds leading exporters and importers and have one of the largest global economies by nominal GDP. Main industries are the automotive sector, agriculture, energy, transport, science and technology and tourism.
Tourism is a huge contributor to their economy with Spain being the second most visited country in the world, an average of 80 million people travel there each year. The country attracts attention for its crystal clear beaches, landscapes, historical culture, food and wines, architecture and climate conditions throughout the year amongst other things.
Spain has one of the best transport infrastructures in the world, with visitors being able to travel by land, sea and air from almost anywhere in the world. Their railway network is deemed as one of the best in Europe and the largest airport in Europe is located in Madrid.
