Finland, officially known as the Republic of Finland, is a Nordic country in Northern Europe and shares its borders with Sweden, Norway and Russia. The countries landscape is vastly covered by lakes, rivers and forests which take up 88% of the land combined with much of the geography being a result of the Ice Age. Its largest lake, Saimaa, is the fourth largest in Europe.
There are 720 miles from the southernmost point in Uusimaa to the northernmost point in Lapland and is one of the world’s northernmost countries. The temperature varies considerably between the southern coastal regions and the extreme north.
In Finland, the GDP per capita is the sixteenth-highest in the world as of 2022. It is one of the richest countries in the world with its high quality of living standards, world renown welfare system and advancing technology sector. Electronics continue to be one of the largest industries in Finland with companies such as Nokia holding their headquarters in Espoo.
Famous for viewing the Northern Lights, which is the most visible in Finland, and can be seen around two hundred nights of the year.
